The ASTM International UAE Chapter held a Workshop on November 16, 2023 at the Marriott Hotel Al Forsan in Abu Dhabi, UAE sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC). The Workshop focused on international standards and model building codes relevant to the UAE for sustainable construction and provided a forum to better understand local needs and emerging trends to amplify the Emirati voice in formulating consensus solutions in the form of market relevant standards and appropriate programs.
The ASTM International UAE Chapter held an Advisory Council Meeting on September 22, 2022 at the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council’s Construction Material Laboratory. The Meeting was hosted by Fareed Ebrahim Al Rais Almarzooqi, Director of Material Science Department, and Saif Mohamed Al Bakeri, Director of Personnel Services & Systems Conformity. Topics discussed included a review of past events and discussion of future Chapter activities. The group also received information about ADQCC’s achievements and was given a tour of the facility.

The ASTM International UAE Chapter held a Workshop on May 11, 2022 at the Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus. Speakers included Dr. William Billotte, Executive Director ASTM International|Exotechnology CoE, Ahmad Al Darwish, CEO|Falcon Robotics, and Tadhg O'Donovan, Deputy Vice Principle|Heriot-Watt University. The Workshop brought together a number of leading experts in the field of Exotechnology and Robotics who discussed this new industry and standards from F48, the ASTM Committee on Exoskeletons and Exosuits.
The ASTM International UAE Chapter teamed up with Thomas Bell-Wright Consultants and ARUP Fire Safety Engineering Consultants on this free webinar focused on fire testing of building spandrel-panel assemblies. Also featured was subject matter expert, Tony Crimi, long-time member of ASTM Committee E05 on Fire Safety.
