UAE Chapter Workshop on Sustainable Construction

The ASTM International UAE Chapter held a Workshop on November 16, 2023 at the Marriott Hotel Al Forsan in Abu Dhabi, UAE.  The Workshop was sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC).  Speakers included Dr. Rashid Bin Fahad, President, ASTM International UAE Chapter | Bader Khamis Al Shemaili, Executive Director Conformity and Standards Services Sector, ADQCC | James Olshefsky, Head, Global Outreach, ASTM International | Shamma Al Dhaheri, Head of Conformity Assessment Bodies Section, ADQCC | Mohamed Ahmed Amer, M.Sc., Regional Director of Operations – MENA, International Code Council (ICC) | Nabil Shahin, Managing Director, Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) – MENA | Abhishek Chhabra, Director of Marketing and Business Development, Thomas Bell-Wright International Consultants |  Yousef Abdulraheem AlAli, Acting Director, Construction and Building Materials Laboratory, Material Science Department, ADQCC | Amer Bin Ahmed, Vice Chair, ASTM International Board of Directors.  The Workshop focused on international standards and model building codes relevant to the UAE for sustainable construction and provided a forum to better understand local needs and emerging trends to amplify the Emirati voice in formulating consensus solutions in the form of market relevant standards and appropriate programs.
